When decorating a house, it can be difficult to blend the styles of a husband and wife. I managed to luck out, because Sean and I surprisingly agree on most decor choices. I thought I'd share some of my favorite decor themes with you, and later, I'll write a post showing how they have been incorporated (or will be) in our home.
If I were to name my style, I'd say I'm "Old World Traditional", or "Updated Old World". Sean and I hope to build a Tudor home someday. I can't STAND modern and contemporary designs, which means most design shows turn me off in some way or another. To me, the plastic, clean, minimalist lines seem cold to me, and I don't think I'd ever feel at home among them. Give me overstuffed, warm wood tones and elegant designs anyday. I don't say this to offend the clean line lovers out there, it's just not for me.
Elements I love are:
1) Dark wood furniture

2) Wrought Iron Pieces with beautiful curves
3) Fleur de Lis, I don't know why, but I love the look

4) Candles and Lanterns

5) Monograms

6) Wall Words: Sean and I are literature nuts, so bring on the quotes!

So what are your favorite decorating elements? What's your style? Let me know, you could inspire an addition to my list!

Umm yea, so I love all the same things :P lol. That doesn't surprise me that much, I noticed when I visited your home that I had a lot of similar things in my home- rich, warm colors, natural woods- great minds think alike ;) I can't wait til we have our own home and not an apt so I can put wall words up! For now I just make them in frames (see the very early entries in my art blog, or the "home decor" entries)
